Alpha Black-Op

I am writing this as multi part review.
For now I will go over the look and feel of the Alpha Black.
This Operator Moddy Version I have named Alpha Black-Op

After I take it out to battle I will tell you my and others opinions of this paintball combat weapon platform.

As we all know Tippmann & The US Army (Officially Licensed Product of US Army) have come out with a new (kinda) paintball gun, the Alpha Black. How appropriate that they mimic the M4/AR style assault rifle.

Go here to find out all the specs and such: http://www.usarmypaintball.com/

What can I say…ummm I love Tippmann .. My A-5 I have had for years as my primary paintball weapon. It has stuck by me thru thick and thin. It has worked so well for me I needed no others. So I also love AR-15s and M4s I own a nice carbine. I love shooting the black rifle. So enivitably I have to get this Tippmann 98 variant. Funny usually the AR’s or M4’s are considered to be variants.

First Impression.

I eyeballed the Alpha Black on several occasions always asking to see it and throw it up on my shoulder when I was at D’s shopping. It has a nice feel and very balanced. The finish is like a black matte almost like industrial feel kinda tuff coate, we will see how durable it is with time. It is well built and solid, if you shake it or wiggle it does not give. The removable magazine/ tool kit is kinda a nice touch, how it holds we shall see also. It looks as though one tough blow from a drop and it bye bye plastic mag.

I wish:

I wish it came with a rail system or two or more.
I wish it came with a gas thru stock
I wish the integrated carry handle was a flat top
I wish the carry handle had a hole in it for mounting optics
I wish the 98 cyclone was bolt on, with out minor modifying to cyclone.
( Thanks Gunny)

But then I remember …..It’s only $130.00 for the nice tactical version.

What... $130.00!!!!!!

Everyone should have one for a backup weapon or loaner.
I went and threw on a few goodies… What a tactical looker... This is the black rifle of paintball.
All in all I'm into it about $130 or so for the base weapon and about $180 in quality accessories without the flashlight.
I will try the Alpha Black out and let you all know what others and myself think of it.

Looks sweet! Do you carry tools in the mag like the site says, or do you leave it empty?

Looks kind of like a resurection of the 68-Carbine with fancy cover.

Nice Weapon Tone. I'm Excited To See How It Performs. Like You Said, It'd Be A Great Backup Or Loaner Gun.

Well after 2 sundays of shooting this Alpha Black in some pretty intense situations
and cold and warm weather, I'm glad to report that the Alpha Black is getting high reviews in my book.
Get your raffel tickets for the drawing of an Alpha Black , $5 a ticket at D's Hobbies. It's for a good cause
most of us already konw about.

The stock barrel is in need of some swapping out. Others say the whisper barrel is a better replacement so I will give it a try.
I shoot lefty so the saftey is ackward... but should be fine for most. I have now grown to like the caryhandle feel as a paintball mask would
make it difficult at best to use Picatinny Rails and some low profile optics. So I can appreciate the simplistic approach and it's effencies it
brings for its price tag. The trigger... well I guess I enjoy my E-grip on my A-5 PDW/CQB setup to much and miss not having it on the Alpha Black....
1 Ball broke in the cyclone but not for fault of the cyclone...
I had some cold and brittle Special Forces that didnt care for being put in the rugged rocky Kreepers Canyon.

My sights are well dialed out to about 30 yds with this nock off halo type reflex sight and stock barrel,
I will will work on this problem of distance next as it is a rifle it should shoot further.
Maybe an apex adapter on the end of the next barrel?

I'll let you know what happens next and my thoughts of it.

I upgraded and swapped out for the E-Gripped version for the weekend game. It worked great. Didn't break a ball. The new style E-Grip will take some getting used to... Gotta turn it on and off with a small button. Shot it semi auto and 3 round.

Doesn't APE make a board for a 98 that might work in there?

The egripped version is only $169 I believe. Plus the cyclone at $60. But yeah its a sweet gun for the money.

The e-grip version is really awesome. The marker fires really far, and just the look of it scares a lot of people, not to mention the noise. The first time I used mine, everyone was asking to hold it, and all that. It was really cool.
