Tomorrow - Jan. 11 - at 3 p.m. you need to sit your butt in front of the TV to watch World Cup Paintball on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN). The world’s best 5-man pro’s battling for the world title will be out there for all to see. I was there in Orlando during the taping of these episodes, and trust me - you don't want to miss out on a minute of the action.
Have plans with grandma tomorrow that you just can’t break? Don’t stress about it too much because you’re going to be seeing a lot more paintball on TV through January. Here’s the schedule of showings generously provided by Brian McKown of Focused TV Productions.

thanx a bunch cory!
Overall I would give the show an 8.5/10. It didn't show that many teams. But focusing on a few teams allows the ppl new to paintball able to follow it a little more easily. I think the videos at Force of Nature are pretty good. Also one of the girls held her marker like a Charlie's Angels member...
I watched a program on the History channel that was going over different war games and the paintball segment almost made me cry at one point, so the OLN shows are going in the right direction.
Now, to see Dick Clarck with X-Ball will be something. Did anyone watch the New Year's show and catch the one lady saying "We came here to see Dick's ball drop"...oh the comedy of live TV.
Yeah..I agree..
it was actually nice to see a show that reflected the sport in a positive manner and that was done with some professionalism..
the 2 announcers knew the game and called it properly.. even calling out the potential wipers. :D

Budweiser Bashes Paintball??
Tacoma, Wa.
by Tolena Mahlum
There has been a bit of a stir in the paintball community over the new Budweiser commercial on TV. In case you haven’t seen the commercial, you can visit www.budweiser.com to see what we’re about to discuss. Click on their link for “Watch our new spots from the big game” and then on the one titled “Paintball.” Make sure your computer has sound, or it won’t make any sense to you.
One of our loyal readers of Paintball.com saw this commercial and was upset enough to send me an email about it. This is what CrazyPaintballer1 had to say about the commercial:
“I was watching the NHL All Star game and during one of the commercial breaks I saw a Budweiser commercial that did the sport of paintball wrong. It showed a ref being pelted by paintballs as he talked to a group of players before a game. Neither he nor any of the players were wearing masks. There was probably only one player with a mask, the rest were wearing safety goggles, and shooting glasses. There were also no barrel plugs anywhere to be seen. At the end the ref walks up to a building and asks for a beer, when he is then pelted again by paintballs in the back. Things like this give the sport a negative image, and will possibly never allow the sport to become as main stream as other sports are.”
CrazyPaintballer1 has a great point here about the image of paintball in this commercial, but I urge all of you to watch the commercial before you judge it. I have watched the commercial several times now, and admittedly I crack up laughing when I see it!
The commercial is really about a bunch of guys that get to play a game of paintball for Bud Light as the prize. Every time the ref says the words “Bud Light” they start shooting him. The ref says that they have to capture the flag in order to get the bud light, and then he holds it up. When the paintballers see the flag they yell “there it is,” and they start shooting him.
Out of Line
While I understand the negative implication that could be given to the sport in this particular instance, I must disagree with CrazyPaintballer1 and say that this is only proof that paintball is headed more mainstream. They could have had their big commercials about anything - but it was about paintball. The more people that know ABOUT the sport the better; they’re going to figure out the rules when they step onto our fields anyways, right?
Post your responses below and let me know what you think - we want to hear from you.
The last sentance does prove a point: "The more people that know ABOUT the sport the better; they’re going to figure out the rules when they step onto our fields anyways, right?"

I thought the commercial was pretty damn funny ,yeah i thought about the implications but nobody but real players would know about barrel plugs an the safety an reg's that go along with it. But heck if you watch any commercal you'd find things like that .Just think how many ppl saw it during the superbowl .figure how many of them got a wild hair up theyre A#@'s an wanted to try it.Just hope they dont try it out on road signs and innocent bystanders. The only bad clip I've seen on Tv about paintball is the video those punks in L.A. did doin drive by's on ppl walkin down the street .it made the cbs news and dateline........ thats some bad P.R.

We agree, this does not represent the sport of paintball in a goodway at all, i wasnt able to find the commercial on thier site anymore, maybe they got so much negative feedback on it they decided to take it off, good idea. Its T.V. like that, that gives paintball a bad name, and during the Super Bowl of all things.
